COURSE NEWS

August 2005

Updated Website!

After a 2-term hiatus the website is now updated and even more vigorous than before (maybe).

Help us to make the VTS better!

A new online feedback form is available here. Please use it to send any feedback or suggestions - positive and negative - to the Course Organisers. If you would like the feedback to remain confidential, simply leave out your name and email address on the form - your IP address will be logged for security reasons but no name or email address will appear on the letter itself. We particularly need to know things like - which speakers you do or don't like, which sessions you thought worked well and why, which sessions didn't go so well, what you would like to see done differently...etc

New Term

The Term Programme for Winter Term 2005 is now online here.

We have, as always, tried to be responsive to feedback and suggestions received at the end of each term.

Don't Forget 1 - Minor Surgery Course

We have arranged for Jonathan Botting to repeat this Course next term. Places are limited to 30, and places will shortly be offered to external candidates via the London Deanery website. After this we will be unable to guarantee you a place.

Please let Avril as soon as possible if you would like to book - the booking form is available here.

Don't Forget 2 - Cumberland Lodge

This is to remind you that the next course at Cumberland Lodge is being held from Tuesday 13th September - Wednesday 14th September. The Course runs from 12 noon on the Tuesday to 4pm on the Wednesday.

We have been fortunate in securing additional Deanery funding for residential courses, and as a result, we are pleased to be able to tell you that there will only be a nominal charge for this Course of £20 per attendee. This will apply to those currently in SHO posts, as well as registrars in practices.

If you wish to attend please let Avril have your name, and the Course fee of £20 as soon as possible. This should be done by 7th September (first day of term) at the latest, as we need to advise the organisers of the numbers of attendees in advance.

Hospital SHOs should apply for study leave from their appropriate departments as soon as possible
GP Registrars will need to notify their trainers and practice manager of the above dates.

VTS Register - Summer 2005 now online

The final version of the Summer VTS Register is now online here - Summer Term 2005. A note will be going out to all Trainers encouraging them to look at their trainees attendance. The Deanery takes the line that 70% is minimal acceptable attendance.

VTS Summer Term Day Out

Darren would like to thank those Registrars who turned out for our trip to the Wellcome Museum of Medicine in the Science Museum at Kensington, followed by dinner at 'Ognisko' Polish Restaurant. We hope everyone who tried the chilled vodka made it home safely.

A Registrar Forum is Online. Get your password from Avril or Darren. Trainers have a separate Forum online .
